ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Cumberland City Council are pleased to offer a school based apprenticeship for a young person in our City Open Spaces team. This position offers a combination of on-the-job work experience and attendance required at TAFE or through a Registered Training Organisation to complete a Certificate III in Sports Turf Maintenance. This is a five (5) year apprenticeship, with three (3) years of dedicated fulltime work in the role, alongside Council's Recreational Assets team.

The successful applicant:

• must be entering Year 11 in 2025
• be aged 16 years or older by the start of February 2025
• have a willingness to learn and undertake on the job training
• have the ability to work within a team environment. 

About this role: 

• Term contract position for up to five (5) years
• The successful applicant will be required to work part-time, one (1) day per week for the first two (2) years, and full-time (70 hours per fortnight) for the remaining three (3) years.

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

• Trainee pay scale of the Cumberland Salary Structure starting from $20.68 per hour, plus 11.5% superannuation
• The commencing salary will depend upon the successful applicant's age and year of schooling completed.
