ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Cumberland City Council operates 13 Education and Care centres across the Local Government Area, educating and caring for children from birth to thirteen (0-13) years of age.
We are seeking education and care professionals, ranging from Educators to Early Childhood Teachers, to join our team where they will care for and educate children from birth to thirteen (0-13) years of age.
Key requirements include (but are not limited to):
- Experience in an education and care environment
- Relevant qualifications are desirable ranging from Cert III in Early Childhood Education and Care to degree qualified (depending on the position)
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at various levels - written and oral
- Creativity and flexibility
- A passion and desire to work with young children, their parents and other Educators.
- Working with Children's Check.

Job Description Children's Services Casual - Grade 2
Job Description Children's Services Casual - Grade 3
Position information: These are casual positions, located across Council's 13 Education and Care Centres. The positions are rostered to work Monday to Friday, between 6:00am to 6:00pm and may include split shifts.
Please note that casual hours are not regular and ongoing, and may fluctuate from hours to block work depending on availability. You must be prepared to work in any of our 13 Childcare Centre's located in the Cumberland Local Government Area.
Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 2 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with an hourly rate of $28.56, plus 11.5% superannuation
- Grade 3 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with an hourly rate of $29.49, plus 11.5% superannuation
- 25% casual loading
- Staff engaged casually in an Early Childhood Educator or Early Childhood Teacher role will be paid the appropriate hourly rate, plus casual loading and superannuation.
Council fully supports the aims and objectives of NSW Child Protection Legislation, and associated provisions, and will implement all necessary measures to ensure a safe and supporting Council environment, which endeavours to promote child safe child friendly practices. It is essential for applicants to submit their WWCC number with their application. It is an offence under NSW legislation for barred workers to apply for or otherwise attempt to obtain, undertake or remain in child-related employment.

There is a simple two-step process for getting a Working With Children Check number.
1. Fill in an online form or call the helpline to have someone fill in a form for you.
2. Take the application number to a Service NSW location, pay the fee (if applicable) and have your identity confirmed (you will need to take appropriate identification with you).
The Working With Children Check will cost $80 for paid workers and self-employed people and is valid for a five-year period.
