ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Council’s Assets, Capital and Facilities unit sits within the City Services directorate and focuses on the management of the Cumberland LGA. Cumberland City Council owns and operates four (4) Aquatic Centres and two (2) Fitness facilities across the LGA which provide recreational services to our community.

In contributing to the overarching vision, the Learn to Swim Instructor delivers high quality classes to the community of Cumberland City Council in line with Council’s policies and procedures and AUSTSWIM industry standards.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Current Swim Instructor qualification
  • Current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate
  • Current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment
  • Demonstrated experience in the effective instruction of swimming classes
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong time management and organisational ability
  • Experience dealing with customer enquiries and complaints

About this role: 

  • Casual positions
  • Located at Council's Swim Centres, with occasional travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 3 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $29.50 to $33.92 per hour (plus casual loading), plus 11.5% superannuation
  • Weekend penalty rates apply in accordance with the Local Government Award
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
