ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Cumberland City Council operates 13 education and care services across the Cumberland Local Government Area, including long day care and OOSH (out of school hours) services.

Cumberland City Council are pleased to offer a position for an Education and Care trainee to join our team and develop their career in the industry alongside our professional and skilled staff in line with the 'fresh start for local government apprentices, trainees and cadets' in conjunction with the NSW Government. This traineeship offer a combination of on-the-job work experience combined with the completion of a nationally recognised qualification, Certificate III in Education and Care, through TAFE or a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). 

The successful applicant will require:

  • A commitment to learning and a genuine interest in early childhood education and care
  • The ability to meet deadlines and adhere to a training plan
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be 18 years of age or over
  • Current Working with Children Check.

About this role: 

  • 1 x term contract, full-time position on offer for up to 24 months
  • Working a 38 hour week with the hours of work will be rostered between 7:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Access to a paid Study Leave Day each fortnight
  • This opportunity will provide you with experience to work across a number of Council's education and care services.

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • This position is placed in Cumberland's Trainee Salary Structure with a salary range of $639.97 to $882.66 per week, dependent upon schooling completed, plus 11.5% superannuation
