ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity within our Technology Services team for a dynamic Service Desk Support Officer to join the team and be responsible for all staff technology related issues across all Council locations. Reporting to the Service Desk Coordinator, the role includes new device configuration and distribution, asset management, telephony support, computer network issues, support for MFD (Printer), software installations and general technical assistance. 

The position will also be required to assist in the rollout of new technologies across Council and participate in related projects. The position will be predominantly based in our Auburn and Merrylands Service Centres however the successful applicant will be expected to travel to any of Council’s approximate 30 networked sites to provide support and conducting regular asset checks as required.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Tertiary qualifications in computer science, business information technology and/or two (2) years’ experience in an Information Technology support role i.e.   first or second level service desk support
  •  Experience operating in a corporate networking environment, remote user support and onboarding of new and offboarding of departing staff
  •  Experience with a wide range of applications including M365, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint
  •  Demonstrated experience in provisioning hardware and asset management
  •  Experience in Active Directory both on prem and Azure
  •  Proven experience in using an IT Service Management (ITSM) application for service desk requests, incident, problem and asset management 
  •  Exposure to Cyber Security issues i.e phishing, email spoofing etc.
  •  Experience with a wide range of operating systems including but not exclusive to Windows, IOS and Android
  •  Experience with one-on-one staff training in a computer environment 
  • To be proactive and able to work with minimal supervision
  •  Class C drivers licence.

About this role: 

  • Permanent, full-time position
  • 70 hour fortnight/week
  • Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO)
  • Located at Council's Merrylands office, with frequent travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 9 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,503.92 to $1,842.30 per week, plus 12% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role

  • Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
  • Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required
  • Provide evidence of your vaccination status as part of the employment screening process, in accordance with Council’s COVID-19 Vaccination Procedure.
