ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Seniors and Disability Services team provide a range of quality, direct services to the Cumberland community to promote social inclusion, enhance quality of life and increase capacity for seniors and people with disability to participate in the community whilst maintaining overall wellbeing and independence.
The team are focused on the delivery of Cumberland’s Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2022-2026, the creation of more liveable places and inclusive communities, recognising the rights and contributions of people with disability and championing diversity within the Cumberland community.
We have an exciting opportunity within our Seniors and Disability Services team for casual NDIS Support Workers to provide a range of quality direct services.
This position is responsible for providing meaningful and necessary direct support to adult customers with disability in accordance with their care plans and NDIS goals. Transporting customers safely to outings, maintaining customer attendance records and ensuring that customers are engaged in the program they are attending is also part of this diverse role.
The successful applicant will require:
- Class C drivers licence
- NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Demonstrated ability to relate and engage with people with disability and their carers
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Sound written skills with a demonstrated ability to write clear and concise care support notes and mandatory forms
- Ability to work as part of a team, be flexible and have good time management skills
- Experience working with volunteers.

About this role:
- Casual positions available with shifts including weeknights and weekends, as required based on various programs and service delivery
- Arrangements for availabilities across a spread of hours including:
- Tuesday - Friday : 4:00pm - 9:30pm
- Friday - 9:30am - 3:00pm
- Saturday- 5:30pm - 11:30pm
- Sunday - 9:30am -4:00pm.
- This role is predominantly located at Council's Merrylands office, with frequent travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations
Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 6 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with an hourly rate of $34.68 to $42.48 per hour, plus 12% superannuation
- 25% casual loading, additional penalty rates apply in the weekend and for shifts worked after 8:00pm.
What you'll need to have for this role:
- The right to live and work in Australia
- Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
- Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required
- Provide evidence of your vaccination status as part of the employment screening process, in accordance with Council’s COVID-19 Vaccination Procedure.
