ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

City Assets and Construction unit focuses on preparing long term asset renewal plans through economical extension of asset lives. The unit also delivers construction works across all asset classes and this includes renewal works and new build.

In contributing to the overarching vision, the Project Manager is responsible for the delivery of projects and programs across the adopted Capital Works Program. The Project Manager will work across infrastructure assets including:

  • Building infrastructure
  • Open space infrastructure
  • Stormwater drainage infrastructure
  • Roads and transport infrastructure

The Project Manager will provide a range of project management services which ensures that and within the compliance and governance frameworks applicable to local government.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in delivering infrastructure projects and/or capital works valued up to $10M, including managing contracts and ensuring compliance with project specifications
  • Significant experience in budget and contract administration (MW21, GC21, etc contracts) as well as the development of project briefs and related work schedules
  • Strong computer skills and proven experience in the use of project management software programs, especially Microsoft Project
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation and standards, including the Local Government Act 1993, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, and WHS regulations
  • Current class C Driver’s Licence
  • Current White card

About this role: 

  • Permanent, full-time position
  • 70 hour fortnight
  • Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) 
  • Located at Council's Auburn, with frequent travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 14 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $2,303.00 to $2,648.45 per week, plus 12% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
  • A leaseback vehicle

What you'll need to have for this role:

  • The right to live and work in Australia
  • Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
  • Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required.
