ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Strategic Communications team sits within Council’s Corporate Performance Directorate and is responsible for providing high quality media and communications services to all stakeholders including our Community, Executive Team, Senior Leadership Team and Council staff.
The team provides timely advice and assistance to internal and external customers on a range of communications functions including content creation and design, media and public relations management, digital and social media management, marketing, advertising, promotions, print and brand management, and Corporate and community consultation activities.
We have an exciting opportunity within the team for a dynamic Coordinator Corporate and Community Engagement who will be responsible for the implementation, review, updating and delivery of the Cumberland Community Engagement and Participation Strategy, embedding best practice engagement across Council operations. This role will be responsible for the planning, delivery and reporting on community consultation activities.
The successful applicant will require:
- Tertiary qualifications in Communications and /or Community Engagement
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Corporate and/or Communications roles with demonstrated application of public participation processes
- Knowledge, experience and application of IAP2 Framework and /or IAP2 qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in overseeing complex collaborative engagement projects, and the ability to develop, implement and evaluate strategic plans and policies
- Proficient in systems such as Microsoft, Adobe, Indesign, and Excel
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, proven negotiation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving ability
- Proven ability to undertake multiple, concurrent engagement projects and produce communications material for a range of audiences across a range of formats
- Proven ability to relay information clearly and effectively
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Class C drivers licence.

About this role:
- Permanent, full-time position
- 70 hour fortnight
- Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement
- Located at Council's Merrylands office, with occasional travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations
Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 14 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $2,303.00 to $2,648.45 per week, plus 12% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role

What you'll need to have for this role:
- The right to live and work in Australia
- Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
- Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required.
