ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity in our Environment and Resource Recovery team for a dynamic Project Officer (Litter Prevention) who is responsible for the implementation, project management and delivery of litter prevention initiatives in the Cumberland Local Government Area (LGA) .

Reporting to the Coordinator Resource Recovery this role will be guided by Councils Litter Prevention Strategy, Action Plan, Roadmap and Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy and will contribute to the overall effective operation of the Environment and Planning Directorate.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Relevant qualifications and/or relevant experience in litter prevention, waste services, environmental health, environmental sciences, sustainable development, environmental management or equivalent
  • Demonstrated understanding of litter prevention principles, targets, policies and strategic litter prevention frameworks, or a thorough understanding of behaviour change principles.
    Experience in project management, design, delivery and evaluation of litter prevention and/or waste education and awareness programs
  • Highly developed facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills, and ability to liaise appropriately with a range of internal and external stakeholders and regional partners to build positive working relationships
  • Demonstrated capacity to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Demonstrated skills in data management and reporting using Microsoft Office Suite of products
  • Demonstrated skills in the management of grant funding opportunities, inclusive of monitoring, implementation, budget and reporting requirements
  • Well developed oral and written communication skills, interpersonal and customer services skills
  • Class C Drivers Licence.

About this role: 

  • Term contract, full-time for up to 12 months 
  • 70 hour fortnight
  • Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) 
  • Located at Council's Auburn office, with occasional travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 11 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,765.48 to $2,030.30 per week, plus 12% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role

  • The right to live and work in Australia
  • Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
  • Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required.
