Community Engagement Officer

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity within our Strategy, Improvement and Engagement team for a dynamic Community Engagement Officer to facilitate community engagement with local residents, businesses, and key stakeholders across Cumberland. This role implements strategies that encourage meaningful participation from relevant groups and stakeholders in addressing specific issues and contributing to the Council’s future strategic direction and the City’s development.

The successful applicant will require:

• Tertiary qualifications in communications, social science or a related field and/or relevant experience
• Excellent written communication, research skills, and high level interpersonal and networking skills
• Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to deliver multiple projects concurrently on time and within budget
• Proven experience in the field of community engagement and stakeholder relations 
• Demonstrated knowledge of traditional and emerging and community engagement approaches 
• Demonstrated experience in working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities
• High level computer literacy, particularly in the MS Office suite of products
• Class C driver's licence
• Valid Working with Children Check clearance number (or ability to obtain).

About this role: 

• Permanent, full-time position
• 70 hour fortnight
• Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) 
• Located at Council's Merrylands, with occasional travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

• Grade 11 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,765.48 to $2,030.30 per week, plus 12% superannuation
• The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role

What you'll need to have for this role:

• The right to live and work in Australia
• Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
• Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required.
